Satyarthi said that even today, children are not safe in many homes and schools. Steps have to be taken to protect them and find solutions. Presently about 150 million children are caught in slavery like child labor, bonded labor, child abuse. Along with independence, their education needs to be given priority, for which political will is needed all over the world. Satyarthi called upon the youth to work towards solving social problems through their technical education.
1318 students from various faculties of the session 2017 in the presence of Amity University founder Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Amity University (Haryana) Vice Chancellor Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Vice Chancellor Professor (Dr.) PB Sharma Provided. Three other celebrities, including Satyarthi, were also awarded honorary doctorates by the university. Amity University also laid the foundation of ‘Kailash Satyarthi Center for Child Rights’ in the name of Kailash Satyarthi, the founder of Global March Against Child Labor, Satyashi Foundation and Good Web International, and the winner of Nobel Peace Prize in 2014. Along with Godrej Group President Padmabhushan Adi Godrej, Biocon Limited Chairman and Managing Director Padmabhushan Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, McKinsey’s Global Managing Partner Dominic Barton was awarded an honorary doctorate.
