Jayaram did not have UK visa
Jayaram (Ajay Jayaram) told PTI-language, ‘I had earlier taken a flight for British Airways flight because there was no Air France flight from Bengaluru last night. The rest of the team traveled from Delhi as they had to take their passports. But I was not allowed to board the flight as it was a special bio safe flight to the UK and I did not have a UK visa. ‘
Covid-19 cases are on the rise in Britain and so there is a rule of stay on seclusion in London. The remaining members of the Indian team Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and Shubhankar Dey left for Denmark on an Air France flight from New Delhi on Thursday night.Jairam asked for help from PM, Sports Minister
Jayaram said, ‘I have taken the ticket to Air France now. I tried to contact the airlines but could not talk to them. I have all the documents which include C visa, Kovid Negative Certificate and mail of the Counselor of Denmark. Hopefully there will be no issue now.
Earlier, Jairam had made several tweets and appealed to the World Badminton Federation, Badminton Association of India, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help.
Denmark Open will be played in Odense from 13 to 18 October. This will also lead to the return of international tournaments after a long break due to Kovid-19 in Badminton.
