Deep Silver and developer Volition have confirmed recent suppositions by announcing Saint’s Row: The Third Remastered will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S next week on May 25. Hints of the gen 9 release surfaced just yesterday following the emergence of a Saints Row: The Third Remastered trophy list for PS5.
The forthcoming launch counts as this specific Saints Row entry’s third major release. It originally hit store shelves for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in November 2011, taking the already chaotic world of the Saints to a completely different level of absurdity. The remaster for PS4 and Xbox One consoles arrived last May, with graphical upgrades, enhanced lighting, and refined models heading the list of improvements. Saints Row: The Third Remastered additionally treated players to more than 30 pieces of downloadable content.

Fans aching for one more joyride through Steelport are in luck. Last year’s Saints Row: The Third Remastered is receiving a fresh coat of paint, thanks to its forthcoming May 25 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Deep Silver and Volition announced the news on the official Saints Row website, noting that existing owners of the remastered edition will gain access to the current-gen upgrade for free. The upgraded version boasts faster loading times, 60fps options, and dynamic 4K resolution on PS5 and Series X. Plus, two distinct performance options will accompany the Series X iteration – Performance Mode targets 60fps at 1080p and Beauty Mode pushes 30fps in 4K resolution. What’s more, a GOG version will finally drop on May 22 alongside the Steam launch.
This re-release comes just in time for Saints Row: The Third’s 10th anniversary, which falls on November 15, 2011. Of course, fans are also keeping their fingers crossed that Volition will soon begin sharing news about Saints Row’s next installment. The studio remains mum with regards to concrete details, but rumors indicate the new title may serve as a direct sequel to Saints Row: The Third.
Saints Row IV and the standalone Gat Out of Hell expansion constituted the last adventures in the open-world franchise. However, Volition did develop 2017’s Agents of Mayhem as a spinoff of sorts, one that borrowed heavily from the world of Saints Row yet failed to hit the mark in many respects.
