The boy also alleged that Sen Saha had forced him to “confess” to have stolen Rs 6,000 even as she recorded it on her mobile. The doctor and her family are at large.
After the boy’s sister lodged a complaint at the Jagachha police station, cops started a probe into the torture case besides how Sen Saha, a health service doctor posted at Howrah District Hospital, could appoint a minor as her help.
The boy’s alleged torture came to light on Sunday evening, when Sen Saha’s neighbours at Jagacha in Howrah were alarmed by the boy’s screams for help. As they went to her house, the doctor opened the door and told them the boy had stolen money. But the neighbours, who reportedly found the boy bleeding from mouth and howling in pain, questioned why was she beating him up instead of handing him over to the police. The boy also reportedly showed them his burns, alleging Sen Saha had scalded him with a hot utensil.
The boy’s sister was also called in and Sen Saha reportedly repeated to her that the boy had stolen money from her. She also showed the sister and her neighbours the video where the boy had apparently confessed to the theft. But denying it, the boy reportedly claimed to his sister and the neighbours that his employer Priya asked Papun whether she had indeed stolen money, the boy denied Saha’s allegation against him and alleged that his employer had forced him to “confess” even as she and her family beat him up.
The boy has been admitted to Howrah Hospital.
Priya then lodged a complaint of brutal torture on her brother against Saha and her family members at Jagacha police station. A police officer said they were investigating the complaint and also probing how the state government doctor had hired a minor as her servant, a crime under law. Papun has been admitted to Howrah hospital.
