CHENNAI: Chief minister J Jayalalithaa urged the Centre on Sunday to postpone the civil services main examinations scheduled from December 18, by at least two months to enable TN students prepare adequately as their studies have been seriously disturbed by the floods.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jayalalithaa asked him to use his good offices with the Union Public Service Commission to defer the examinations to enable the aspirants make up for lost time. “This would provide the TN students a level playing field with their counterparts,” she has stated.

“There was considerable interruption to various services including electricity supply. Schools and colleges are expected to reopen only December 14,” she said.
