MUMBAI: The state government will create a separate cell to streamline the spending of funds from the member of parliament local area development scheme and ensure that the money is spent on development work urgently needed in the state.

“MP funds has been increased and so has the scope of work. And to ensure that the money is used for works that are required the most in the state are taken up under that fund,” reads the government resolution.

Created at the recommendation of the central government, the cell has 4 official posts to be manned by people coordinating among the MPs and the state.
