BENGALURU: In keeping with the requirements of many universities, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has revised for its Class XII students the ratio of marks for theory and practical components for some subjects. These are Computer Science, Fashion Designing, Physical Education, Indian Music (Hindustani), Indian Music (Carnatic) and Western Music, and the ratio has changed from 50:50 to 70:30.The new ratio that gives lower marks for practicals will kick in from ISC (Class XII) examination 2016 onwards. Also, the theory and practical components of the examination in these subjects will get three hours each.

All principals have been asked to inform candidates sitting for the ISC (Class XII) 2016 exam of the change. This year, 71,141 students from 909 schools affiliated to the council all over India will be sitting for the 12th board exams. ISC (XII) conducts written exam on 58 subjects: 15 Indian languages, 8 foreign languages and 3 classical languages.

For faster declaration of results, the council will introduce the Live Ink Character Recognition (LICR) solution tool in 2016. This technology is set to make evaluation of answer scripts and results errorfree. It will not only cut down the time taken in evaluation but also rid students of the inconvenience caused due to errors in their mark sheets.
