Minutes after Kuldeep left his home in ETA Gar dens, Cottonpet, a car rammed his two-wheeler on Goodshed Road around 10.30am. During a fight that ensued, four other men in a car joined in pretending to help them arrive at a compromise. They suggested that the issue be resolved at a police station and asked Kuldeep to get in their car. However after travelling a small distance, the gang took out weapons and assaulted him. The gang drove around Majestic area for a while before taking Kuldeep to Tavera forest in Sathanur.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep’s brother Sandeep lodged a missing complaint with KP Agrahara police.
Around 11pm, the family started receiving ransom calls with a demand of Rs 1 crore. The gang made the calls from different places.
While police were try ing to track Kuldeep, elsewhere in Kanakapura, forest guards found a few men in an abandoned shed on Sunday morning.The men claimed they were there to party .
“Sensing something amiss, the forest guards alerted us. When we rushed to the spot, there were about 9-10 men. All of them, except two, ran away. On questioning them, one of them told us he had been kidnapped and brought there. Later, we realized that a case in this regard had been registered in KP Agrahara police,” Sathanur police personnel said.
One of the kidnappers, Saravanan, 24, who has been arrested, is a resident of Magadi Road and told police they targeted Kuldeep knowing he was rich.Police have formed teams to track down the others.
